Costing over $2M/episode, TV series "Zi Teng Lian" yesterday held an opening ceremony, what allowed people to feel most different about it was, at the press conference, besides it being filled w/ media, there were also reps from different types of businesses[or sponsors] on hand, even during the half-way mark of the press conference, Han Jae Suk, Lin Hsinju, & other actors were asked to put on the sunglasses provided by the sponsors. In fact, b/c of the strong cast of "Zi Teng Lian", it has become a hot commodity for "product placements", but, Korean stars themselves have many customs/rules, will this act cause Han Jae Suk to be dissatisfied? Or like Lin Hsinju, Victor Huang both represents quite a few products, what discretionary actions are required?
Product placements are commonly used in Korean, Japanese TV serials, especially after Korea's stock market crash, the government encourages its citizens to buy Korean made products, in Korean TV series can see electric appliances, cars, cellphones are practically from LG, Kia, Samsung[sorry, I don't know the other brands english names]. But in Taiwan, b/c of the difference in production environment, the actors' accoutrements are at the expense of the actors, cars are usually borrowed from private dealers.
"Zi Teng Lian" & those businesses discussing about product placements actually came from Korean series. Like expenses for travel to Australia are sponsored by Xiong Shi travel agency,........, credit cards used by "Zi" cast members are from New Century credit cards, also the product used by Lin Hsinju & Han Jae Suk as their declaration of love for each other will be provided by D&D Jewelry, represented by Hsinju.
